"What a great place to stop in for some local culture! We originally stopped in to see the butterfly & moth collection on display, which was donated by a patron some years ago and has been kept in pristine condition. But we were quickly charmed by the friendly staff at the library, by the history behind the building and the supportive connection they have to their community. It was an unexpected (and welcome) treat to spend some time there on a rainy day!"
WHAT A LIBRARY SHOULD BE
"We have been visiting the Southport Library for 30 years. We tune into their convenient wifi. We borrow books and DVDs. We chat with their friendly staff. We go to their evening events. We even give them a donation to help things along. If you want to have a sense of the local community, just sit in a comfy chair, read, and listen to the gossip. You will be welcome and feel welcome. Good local libraries are like that. This is one."
DON'T SKIP THIS LIBRARY!
"We love this little library and stop here whenever we are in the area. The staff is super helpful and friendly. There are books to borrow and books to buy on the top floor. They also have a butterfly collection and several collections of old books on display. So many great finds! And on top of all that, at we learned hat the library has some exchange programs so we were able to score discounted entry to a Portland museum for later in the week!"
